Indian River board, teachers reach contract agreement

DAGSBORO – Teachers in the Indian River School District now have a contractual agreement through the 2018 fiscal year.

At its regular monthly meeting on Monday, March 23, the Indian River School District Board of Education formally entered into a new contract agreement with the district’s teachers’ union.

The contract was officially signed by Board of Education President Charles Bireley, Superintendent Susan Bunting and Indian River Education Association President J.R. Emanuele.

The new contract is effective for fiscal years 2015, 2016, 2017, and 2018.

Effective July 1, 2014, the agreement calls for a 4 percent salary scale increase, retroactive for 2014-15, and a 7 percent increase (plus a $728 health care benefit).

Salary scale adjustment is 4 percent for 2016-17 and five percent for 2017-18.
