Truck in ditch: Millsboro man, 65, arrested for fifth DUI

MILLSBORO – A motor vehicle crash Sunday led to the arrest of a Millsboro man for a fifth driving under the influence offense.

Earl A. Antonio

Earl A. Antonio, 65, was arrested after state troopers were dispatched to John J. Williams Highway and Rosedale Road at 5:10 p.m. for a report of a truck in a ditch, Delaware State Police spokeswoman Master Cpl. Melissa Jaffe said.

Upon making contact with Antonio, troopers detected an odor of alcohol and a DUI investigation ensued. A computer check by state police revealed Antonio had four previous DUI convictions, making this his fifth offense.

Antonio was transported back to Troop 4. He was charged with 5th offense driving under the influence of alcohol (felony), driving while suspended or revoked and other traffic related offenses.

Antonio was arraigned before the Justice of the Peace Court 3 and committed to the Sussex Correctional Institution on $6,102 secured bond.
