Troopers seeking suspect in Ellendale home invasion

ELLENDALE – Delaware State Police are seeking the suspect in a home invasion that occurred in the town limits of Ellendale early Friday morning.

The incident occurred at about 3:30 a.m. Aug. 11 in the 13000 block of South Old State Road, state police spokesman Master Cpl. Gary Fournier said.

Investigation revealed an unknown subject wearing a dark colored hooded sweatshirt knocked on the door and requested to use the phone.  When refused entry, the suspect went to another door and forced his way into the residence and displayed a knife, Cpl. Fournier said.

The suspect then directed all four occupants to get down on the floor and demanded money.  Moments later, he fled without any money or items through a rear door after observing one of the occupants on a cell phone.

None of the occupants were injured in the incident, Cpl. Fournier said.

Police describe the male suspect 5-5 to 5-7 tall, weighing 150 to 160 pounds. He was wearing dark clothing consisting of a hooded sweatshirt, black mask, dark color jeans and displayed a kitchen style knife.

Anyone with any information is asked to contact Detective T. Williams-Snipes at 752-3897. Information may also be provided by calling Delaware Crime Stoppers at 1-800-TIP-3333, via the internet at
