Troopers investigate stabbing in Millsboro area

MILLSBORO – Delaware State Police Major Crimes Unit detectives are currently investigating a stabbing that occurred Wednesday evening near Millsboro.

State police spokeswoman Master Cpl. Melissa Jaffe said troopers were dispatched at 8:20 p.m. Jan. 24 to the intersection of Townsend Road and Harmony Cemetery Road for a reported stabbing.

There, troopers found a 38-year-old Milford man sitting on the side of the roadway with stab wounds to his extremities.  He was transported by Emergency Medical Services to a local area hospital.

Preliminary investigation revealed that the 38-year-old man was a passenger in a vehicle when he engaged in a verbal argument with another passenger.

The argument escalated to the point that the driver stopped at the intersection of Townsend Road and Harmony Cemetery Road.  While still seated in the vehicle, the passenger suspect had stabbed the victim, Cpl. Jaffe said.  The victim managed to get out the vehicle before it fled the scene.

The suspect is only described as a black male.

The victim was treated and released with non-life-threatening injuries, Cpl. Jaffe said.
