Traffic stop leads to weapons, drug and other charges

LAUREL – Laurel police on Wednesday arrested a Bridgeville man on weapons, drug and other offenses following a traffic stop.

Dameon Trigger was arrested July 19 without incident after he was pulled over traffic offenses in the area of County Seat Highway (Rt. 9) and Fire Tower Road, said Laurel Police Department spokesman Det. Tyler Bryan.

During the traffic stop, police discovered a loaded 9mm handgun under the driver’s seat. Further investigation by police resulted in additional charges, Det. Bryan said.

Trigger, a person prohibited from carrying a firearm due to previous violent felony convictions, was charged with possession of a firearm by a person prohibited, carrying a concealed deadly weapon, endangering the welfare of a child, driving while suspended, failure to have required insurance, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and failing to properly restrain a child in a motor vehicle.

Trigger was committed to Delaware Department of Corrections in lieu of $ 22,000 secured bond.
