Sussex man charged with felony reckless endangering, disorderly conduct in boating incident

SUSSEX COUNTY – Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control Division of Fish & Wildlife Natural Resources Police officers arrested an Ocean View man May 11 on endangerment and other charges related to an incident in the Indian River Inlet where a vessel operator allegedly threw a filet knife that narrowly missed anglers and bystanders onshore.

No injuries were reported in the release from DNREC Public Affairs spokeswoman Joanna Wilson.

Jeffrey T. Cumens was charged with second-degree felony reckless endangering and disorderly conduct.  Mr. Cumens was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 3 in Georgetown and released on $1,200 unsecured bond pending a preliminary hearing.

His bond also includes a no-contact order with another person involved in the incident and an order not to operate or be a passenger on-board a vessel in Delaware waters prior to his next hearing.
