Suspect sought in purse theft

SEAFORD – City of Seaford police are seeking a black male suspect in their investigation of a purse-snatching incident Tuesday evening at the Food Lion on Sussex Highway.


A 57-year-old Laurel woman told police a young male approached her from behind and took her purse from the shopping cart as she exited the store, Seaford Police Department spokesman Lt. Richard Jamison said.

The suspect fled on foot behind the shopping center.  Officers checked the area but were unable to locate the suspect.

The incident occurred at 6:20 p.m.

Police description of the black male suspect: 15 to 20 years old, wearing a dark jacket with a plaid hood, and gray sweatpants.
