Suspect sought in Laurel Exxon robbery

LAUREL – Delaware State Police are investigating a robbery Friday evening at the Exxon gas station on Sussex Highway in Laurel at the intersection of U.S. 13 and SR 9.

Investigation revealed a black male entered the business at about 8:10 p.m. Nov. 20, confronted a female employee and demanded cash, state police spokesman Cpl. Gary Fournier said.

The store clerk complied and the suspect fled out the front door with an undetermined amount of cash and left the scene in a vehicle.

The employee was not injured in the incident and no weapon was displayed, Cpl. Fournier said.

The black male suspect is 20-27 years of age, 5-10 to 6-2 tall, weighing 200 to 230 pounds. He was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt with the words “Delaware Tech” on the front (no further physical, clothing or vehicle description was available).
