State police seeking suspect in stolen vehicle probe

MILLSBORO – Delaware State Police are seeking the public’s assistance in attempting to locate a wanted suspect in reference to a stolen motor vehicle.

The incident occurred Saturday, Nov. 4 at approximately 2:18 a.m.

A trooper patrolling John J. Williams Highway and Banks Road in Millsboro, DE was attempting to locate a stolen motor vehicle out of Millsboro Police Department.  The stolen vehicle, a beige 1998 Toyota Avalon was located by the trooper heading on east on John J. Williams Highway. After a brief chase the vehicle stopped at the entrance to Holly Lake Campground. The operator jumped out and fled on foot into the camp ground area.

Through investigation, state police identified the suspect as 32-year-old Daniel V. Berquist of Fredericksburg, VA.  Berquist is being charged with disregarding a police officer signal, resisting arrest, and driving without a valid license.
