State police release name of Laurel man killed in Nov. 16 crash

LAUREL – Delaware State Police have identified the 37-year-old Laurel man killed in a motor vehicle accident Nov. 16 as James M. Holloway.

The crash involving a 2000 Dodge Dakota and a 2013 Infiniti JX35 occurred about 8 p.m. near the intersection of SR 24 and Jestice Farm Road.

Investigation revealed Mr. Holloway was operating the Dakota eastbound on SR 24 when the vehicle crossed the center line into the path of the oncoming Infiniti, driven by a 31-year-old Laurel man.

The operator of the Infiniti swerved in attempt to avoid a collision and the vehicle went into a field.  The Dakota traveled through the westbound lane and shoulder, striking the front of the Infiniti in the field with its front. The Dakota came to rest partially on the roadway shoulder.

The operator of the Dakota was transported by EMS to Nanticoke Memorial Hospital where he was pronounced dead. State police investigation revealed he was not properly restrained.

The operator of the Infiniti, who was properly restrained, was taken by EMS to Nanticoke Memorial Hospital. He was treated for minor injuries and released.

A 32-year-old female passenger in the Infiniti was also transported to Nanticoke Memorial Hospital. She was admitted with non-life-threatening injuries.

The Delaware State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit is continuing the investigation.
