State Police make arrest in multiple burglaries

MILLSBORO – Delaware State Police on Tuesday arrested a Millsboro man in connection with multiple burglaries and other related offenses.

Timothy R. Elliott Jr., 48, was discovered by K-9 hiding in a crawlspace of his residence in the 36000 block of Pine Drive in the Mariner’s Cove development, according to state police spokeswoman Master Cpl. Melissa Jaffe.

Troopers were dispatched to the Mariner’s Cove development June 5 around 5:30 a.m. for a domestic report.  The homeowner said he was awoken by loud noises outside. As the homeowner went outside to investigate, he discovered a large amount of stolen property surrounding his residence.

Additionally, he discovered his son, Timothy R. Elliott Jr. across the street inside a neighbor’s boat attempting to remove a seat.

Troopers observed this plethora of property which included but not limited to numerous large appliances, heavy landscaping stones, copper piping, furniture, lumber, an HVAC, toilets, and a kitchen sink and countertop.

Investigation revealed that Elliott had dismantled and removed the interior contents of five neighboring, seasonal residences.

Prior to arrival of troopers, Elliott fled on foot.  With the assistance of Troop 7 K-9 Fifo, Elliott was discovered hiding in the crawlspace to his residence.

Elliott was subsequently taken into custody and transported to Troop 7. He was charged with three counts of felony burglary third degree, two counts of felony possession of burglary tools, three counts of felony theft, two counts of criminal mischief, two counts of theft, resisting arrest, and two counts of criminal trespass.  Elliott was arraigned before the Justice of the Peace Court 2 and committed to the Sussex Correctional Institution on $13,002 secured bond.
