Seaford woman killed in single-vehicle crash

BRIDGEVILLE – Delaware State Police report an early morning crash Friday claimed the life of a 43-year-old Seaford woman.

Sandra L. Wroten, a passenger , was pronounced dead at the scene of the single-vehicle crash that occurred about 12:10 a.m. on Redden Road, according to state police spokesman Cpl. Gary Fournier.

Investigation revealed Susan Patten-Lorenzo, 45, of Seaford was driving a 2007 Mustang east on Redden Road. As the vehicle approached a curve near the intersection with Chaplin’s Chapel Road, Ms. Patten-Lorenzo lost control. The vehicle spun, struck a utility pole and overturned.

Ms. Wroten was ejected from the car. She was properly restrained, Cpl. Fournier said.

Ms. Patten-Lorenzo, who was properly restrained, was transported by EMS to Nanticoke Memorial Hospital where she was treated for non-life-threatening injuries and released.

Investigation into this crash continues and Cpl. Fournier said “alcohol is believed to be a contributing factor in this case and charges are pending.”
