Seaford man wounded in Laurel apartment complex shooting dies

LAUREL – Authorities are seeking the suspect in a July 9 shooting at a Laurel apartment complex that has left an 18-year-old Seaford man dead.

Delaware State Police spokesman Master Cpl. Melissa Jaffe said the victim, Trevor McClements, died Friday from injuries sustained in the shooting that occurred in the 200 building in Carvel Gardens Apartments.

Police found Mr. McClements on the ground with an apparent gunshot wound to the head. He was initially transported by ambulance to Nanticoke Memorial Hospital, then airlifted to an area hospital in critical condition, Cpl. Melissa said.

Investigation revealed the shooting occurred during an altercation involving multiple subjects. Police did not have the identity of the shooter.

State police report another victim, a 22-year-old man who fled the scene, was later identified at the Nanticoke Memorial Hospital. He suffered hand and face lacerations and was treated and released, Cpl. Jaffe said.
