Seaford man sought in armed robbery of Blades liquor store

BLADES – Delaware State Police are seeking a Seaford man who police say fired his handgun during the armed robbery of the Concord Liquor Store on Concord Road Tuesday night.

James M. Finney

Troopers have linked 30-year-old James M. Finney to the robbery, state police spokesman Master Cpl. Melissa Jaffe said.

The incident occurred at approximately 9:35 p.m., Feb 6 at the Concord Liquor Store located at 8774 Concord Road.

A male subject entered the business armed with a handgun and demanded money from the store clerk. The suspect discharged his weapon narrowly missing the clerk, who turned over an undisclosed amount of cash. The suspect fled the scene in a dark-colored passenger vehicle.

The store clerk was not injured as a result of this incident, Cpl. Jaffe said.

Further investigation revealed that the suspect had entered the business approximately 10 minutes prior to the robbery and made a purchase. Through investigative measures, troopers were able to identify Finney as the suspect.

Finney, a black male with a beard, is described as 5-11 tall, 187 pounds., wearing a light colored long sleeve shirt, dark colored sweatpants.

Warrants for the arrest of Finney including charges of robbery first degree, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, aggravated menacing, reckless endanger first degree and possession of a firearm by a person prohibited have been obtained.

The case remains under investigation. Anyone with information regarding Finney’s whereabouts is asked to contact Troop 4 Major Crimes Unit, Detective D. Cathell at 302-752-3793.
