GEORGETOWN – Town of Georgetown police on Sunday arrested a Seaford man for the August burglary of the One Stop Food Market.

Kevin Stone

Kevin Stone, 56, was arrested and charged with Burglary 3rd degree, Theft under $1,500, Possession of Burglar Tools and Criminal Mischief, Georgetown Police Department spokesman Det. Joey Melvin said.

Stone was arraigned and committed to Sussex Correctional Institution in lieu of secured bond.

On Aug. 26, Georgetown police launched a burglary investigation at the One Stop Food Market in the 400 block of East Market Street. Police determined the suspect forced entry into the building through the window and removed merchandise.

An image of the suspect was captured via the store’s video surveillance equipment.

On Sept. 3, a Georgetown officer on patrol spotted a subject matching the suspect description walking on North Bedford Street. After contacting the subject, the officer determined that he was burglary suspect. Stone was subsequently taken into custody without incident, Det. Melvin said.
