Road closures in Sussex County from snow, flooding

SUSSEX COUNTY – The following roadways in Sussex County have been closed due to being snow covered or flooded, Delaware State Police report:

  • Inlet Bridge;
  • New Road at the Canary Creek Bridge;
  • The Canal Bridge on Savannah Road, Lewes;
  • Pilot Town Road at the US Coast Guard Station;
  • Route 1 from Dewey Beach to Bethany Beach;

As of 12 noon today, Delaware State Police troopers responded to a total of 135 property damage collisions, 14 personal injury collisions, 205 disabled vehicles, and 48 traffic hazards statewide.

A Level 1 Driving Warning remains in effect for Sussex County. A Level 1 Driving Warning shall mean that any person operating a motor vehicle when a Level 1 Driving Warning has been activated shall exercise extra caution in the operation of their motor vehicle. Non-essential employees, regardless of whether employed by a public or private entity, are encouraged not to operate a motor vehicle on the State’s roadways when a Level 1 Driving Warning has been activated, unless there is a significant safety, health or business reason to do so.
