One person dies in Long Neck trailer fire

LONG NECK – An early-morning trailer fire Sunday claimed the life of one person, the Delaware State Fire Marshal’s Office reports.

Assistant State Fire Marshal Michael G. Chionchio said the March 18 blaze broke out shortly after 3 a.m. in the unit block of Harbor Road in Malone’s Marina on Long Neck.

Indian River Fire Company personnel found the house trailer engulfed in flames upon arrival.

One occupant removed by firefighters was rushed to Beebe Hospital and pronounced dead, Mr. Chionchio said. The identity of the deceased person was not released.

Two other occupants were treated at Beebe and released.

State fire investigators are searching for the origin and cause of the fire, which remains under investigation.

Heavy fire damage was estimated at $50,000.
