Millsboro man killed in two-vehicle crash north of Long Neck

LONG NECK – A 58-year-old Millsboro man died Wednesday evening in a two-vehicle crash north of Long Neck.

James D. Waltz  was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash that occurred

around 8:50 p.m. July 6 at the intersection of Harmons Hill Road and Indian Mission Road (SR5), according to Delaware State Police spokesman Cpl. Gary Fournier.

Investigation revealed Sara G. Lingo, 18, of Millsboro was operating a 2009 Ford Escape eastbound on Harmons Hill Road approaching Indian Mission Road.

At the intersection controlled by a stop sign, Ms. Lingo did not remain stopped. The Escape entered the intersection into the path of a 2007 Chrysler Town and Country, driven by Mr. Waltz. The Town and Country vehicle had the right of way at the intersection.

Ms. Lingo was transported to Beebe Healthcare and admitted with undetermined injuries.

Delaware State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit is continuing their investigation into this incident and charges may be forthcoming.

Alcohol or drugs do not appear to be a factor in this case, Cpl. Fournier said.

SR5 was closed for approximately three hours while the crash was investigated and cleared.
