One dead, two injured when struck by train in Georgetown

GEORGETOWN – One person was killed, and two others critically injured when they were struck by a train early Sunday morning in Georgetown.

Georgetown Police Department spokesman Det. Joey Melvin said three subjects were struck by a Carload Express train near the 600 block of North Bedford Street. Preliminary investigation reveals that the incident occurred Sunday, Sept. 16 at approximately 12:44 a.m.

A female subject was pronounced dead and two males were transported to a hospital in critical condition, Det. Melvin said. Names of the victims are being withheld pending notification of next of kin, he said.

The investigation is still ongoing, and no charges have been filed.
