9 cops crash millville building

No one, including the driver, was injured Wednesday when a vehicle crashed into the Beebe Healthcare Rehab Services facility in Millville.

MILLVILLE – A 75-year-old Ocean View man escaped injury Wednesday afternoon when his vehicle crashed into a building.

Delaware State Police investigation revealed George M. Hannisick was operating a 2013 Ford Edge in the parking lot of Beebe Healthcare Rehab Services located at 32550 Docs Place Extended.

As he was attempting park, Mr. Hannisick’s foot allegedly slipped off the brake onto the gas pedal, accelerating the vehicle into the building, stopping just inside, state police spokesman Cpl. Gary Fournier said.

No persons inside the building were injured in the crash and the building was evacuated.

The Sussex County Technical Rescue Team responded to secure the building and inspect the structural integrity.

Mr. Hannisick, uninjured in the collision, was transported by EMS to Beebe Healthcare in Lewes for observation.  He was cited for inattentive driving.

The crash occurred around 2:50 p.m.
