Millsboro woman killed in head-on crash

MILLSBORO – A Millsboro woman was killed and another person hospitalized in a head-on collision early Saturday morning, Delaware State Police report.

Jennifer L. Morris, 39, of Millsboro, was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash that occurred about 5:29 a.m. on Millsboro Highway (SR 24) east of Godwin School Road, state police spokesman Sgt. Richard Bratz said.

Investigation revealed Kenneth W. Damron, 44, of Millsboro was westbound in a 2013 Ford Fiesta on SR 24 and a second vehicle, a Dodge Ram 1500 operated by Jessie J. Sanders, 27, of Delmar, was eastbound on SR 24.

The Fiesta for unknown reasons crossed the center line into the path of the Dodge Ram 1500. Mr. Sanders attempted to avoid the Fiesta but the two vehicles collided, police said.

Ms. Morris, a passenger in the Fiesta, was properly restrained. She sustained massive injuries, Sgt. Bratz said.

Mr. Damron, who was properly secured, was transported by the Delaware State Police Aviation Unit to the Beebe Hospital where he was stabilized and later flown to the Christiana Hospital.

Mr. Saunders, who was not properly restrained at the time of the crash, sustained minor scratches and non-life threatening injuries and refused medical treatment at the scene, Sgt. Bratz said.

Initial investigation reveals that alcohol and speed do not appear to be factors in this collision, Sgt. Bratz said.
