Millsboro man killed when struck by bus on U.S. 113

FRANKFORD – Alcohol is considered a factor in a fatal pedestrian accident early Friday morning in which a Millsboro man died from injuries sustained when he was struck by a bus on U.S. 113, Delaware State Police report.

Sylvester O. Bailey, 56, was struck in the right lane of U.S. 113 by a 2001 Van Hool Coach bus operated by Lin Jin Wei, 47, of New York, state police spokesman Sgt. Richard Bratz said.

The incident occurred at about 3:32 a.m.

The bus was carrying 47 passengers.

The 9-1-1 center had received a report of a pedestrian walking in the right lane of northbound U.S. 113.

A Selbyville police officer behind the bus was actively engaged in searching for the pedestrian in the road. The officer was able to verify that speed was not a factor on the part of the bus, Sgt. Bratz said.

The bus driver and all passengers were not injured.

This crash remains under investigation by the Delaware State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit.

Alcohol appears to be a factor on the part of the pedestrian, Sgt. Bratz said.
