Millsboro man dies in motorcycle crash north of Bridgeville

BRIDGEVILLE – A 33-year-old Millsboro man died Tuesday afternoon in a fatal motorcycle crash north of Bridgeville.

The crash occurred just before 5 p.m. at the intersection of U.S. 13 and East Newton Road, Delaware State Police spokesman Sgt. Richard Bratz said.

Investigation revealed Joshua C. Hoffer was operating a Honda Shadow motorcycle northbound on U.S. 13 when he failed to stop for the red light. The cycle struck a Chrysler Sebring driven by Michael D. Sauerwein, 42, of Rosedale, MD.

Mr. Hoffer, who was not wearing a helmet, was ejected onto the roadway. He was transported to Nanticoke Memorial Hospital where he pronounced dead.

The driver of the Sebring was not injured.

Delaware State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit is continuing the investigation into this crash.
