Millsboro man dies in crash north of Georgetown

GEORGETOWN – A 32-year-old Millsboro man died in a single-vehicle crash north of Georgetown late Monday night, Delaware State Police report.

Troy J. Bradford was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash, which occurred around 11:32 p.m. Monday, state police spokesman Sgt. Richard Bratz said.

Preliminary investigation revealed Mr. Bradford was driving a 2000 Dodge Neon northbound on Savannah Road (CR 246), just south of Rudd Road (CR 245) north of Georgetown.

Mr. Bradford was traveling at an unsafe rate of speed for existing wet and curvy roadway conditions. While negotiating a sharp left curve, the vehicle began to rotate and as he overcorrected right the vehicle left the roadway and struck a large standing tree, which penetrated the driver’s seating area.

Mr. Bradford, who was properly restrained, sustained massive trauma, Sgt. Bratz said.

Delaware State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit is continuing the investigation.

On Tuesday, July 28 from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m., the Collision Reconstruction Unit will be conducting forensic mapping and the roadway will have limited access with one-lane closure for that hour, Sgt. Bratz said.
