Millsboro man charged in domestic incident

MILLSBORO – Delaware State Police arrested a Millsboro man who authorities say assaulted his fiancé and pointed a gun at her.

Mark R. Reedy

Mark R. Reedy, 53, faces charges of aggravated menacing, strangulation, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, assault third degree, terroristic threatening and unlawful imprisonment, state police spokesman Master Cpl. Melissa Jaffe said.

He was arraigned out of the Justice of the Peace Court 2 and committed to the Sussex Correctional Institution on $65,000 secured bond.

The incident occurred around 3:26 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 7.

Troopers responded to the 24000 block of White Street, Shawns Hideaway for a physical domestic complaint.

Investigation revealed that during the altercation, the victim was dragged by her hair and choked by her fiancé, identified Mark R. Reedy, Cpl. Jaffe said.

Investigation revealed Reedy took a black semi-automatic handgun from inside the residence and struck the victim on the back of her head, and indicated he was going to kill her and himself.

The woman was able to flee on foot to a neighbor’s residence. She was subsequently taken to a local hospital and treated for assault-related injuries, Cpl. Jaffe said.

Reedy fled the residence on a golf cart prior to troopers arriving. He was later located riding around the park in the camping section of the development.

Reedy was taken into custody without incident.  A black semi-automatic handgun was recovered and seized from the residence where the incident occurred.

Reedy was transported back to Troop 7 and charged.
