On July 5, 2017, Georgetown police were dispatched to the 500 Block of North Bedford Street for a possible theft in progress complaint. Reports indicated that a man on a bicycle was seen looking inside vehicles and entering one vehicle, removing items, Det. Melvin said.

Upon arrival officers observed a male matching the suspect description. As officers began to approach the man he threw items on the ground. Officers later learned those items had been stolen from a vehicle on North Bedford Street.

Reminder: Keep vehicles locked

Georgetown police encourage all residents to keep their vehicles locked and secured. Also, any valuables should either be removed from the vehicle or placed out of sight.

Police urge anyone who believes they have had items taken from their vehicle or that someone has attempted to take items to make a report to the police department.
