Marydel woman killed in crash

GEORGETOWN – A Marydel woman died Saturday afternoon in a two-vehicle crash northwest of Georgetown.

The crash occurred at about 3:58 p.m. at the intersection of West Robbins Road and Redden Road, according to Delaware State Police spokesman Sgt. Richard Bratz.

Samantha Potter, 23, was pronounced dead at the scene, Sgt. Bratz said.

Investigation revealed Ms. Potter was northbound in a 2013 Hyundai Sonata on West Robbins Road. For unknown reasons Ms. Potter failed to stop at a stop sign at the Redden Road intersection and the Hyundai was struck by a 1995 Ford F350 Box Truck driven by Miguel W. Hernandez, 28, of Easton, Md.

A passenger in the Hyundai, Daniel B. Bashelor, 32, of Georgetown, was flown to the Christiana Hospital by a Maryland State Police Aviation Unit. He was admitted in critical condition.

Mr. Hernandez-Alberti sustained minor non-life threatening injuries and refused treatment at the scene.

A passenger, Gerardo M. Alberto, 35, of Easton, also sustained minor non-life threatening injuries and refused treatment at the scene.

State police note that this crash is unrelated to another fatal crash that occurred on Redden Road around 4:10 p.m. Saturday.
