Laurel: Three arrested following probe of illegal narcotics sales

LAUREL – Town of Laurel police Thursday made three arrests following a lengthy investigation into the sale of illegal narcotics from two residences.

In a search of a residence on Oak Lane Drive police located 387 bags of heroin, powder cocaine, marijuana and over $6,000 cash, according to Laurel Police Department spokesman PFC Christopher Story.

Edsel Wooten, 34, of Laurel and Lewis Dickerson, 37, of Laurel were arrested. Both were charged with several felony and misdemeanor offenses.

Following arraignment Mr. Wooten had to be taken to a hospital for an unknown medical condition, PFC Story said.

Mr. Dickerson was released on $28,500 unsecured bond pending a future court date.

Mr. Wooten was subsequently committed to the Sussex Correctional Institution in default of $82,000 cash bond and a $25,000 bond for active warrants, PFC Story said.

An executed search warrant of the second residence located on Willow Street revealed numerous items of drug paraphernalia, PFC Story said.

Police arrested Rocco Mangino, 37, of Laurel on several drug-related charges.

Mr. Mangino was released on $3,000 unsecured bond for these charges but was committed to SCI in default of a $12,000 cash bond for an active warrant issued out of Sussex County Court of Common Pleas.
