Laurel police: Bridgeville man charged in rape of 7-year-old girl

LAUREL – A 25-year-old Bridgeville man is behind bars, charged with raping a seven-year-old girl who was in his care.

Town of Laurel police on Thursday, Jan. 25 arrested John L. Young on one count of second-degree rape (victim less than 12 years old), two counts of unlawful sexual contact (person less than 13 years of age) and three counts of felony endangering the welfare of a child, Laurel Police Department spokesman patrolman first-class Christopher Story said.

Police investigation revealed Young on several occasions had sexual contact with a seven-year-old girl who was in his care, patrolman Story said.

Young was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court No. 2 and committed to the Sussex Correctional Institution in default of a $100,000 secured bond and issued a no contact order for the victims.
