Laurel police apprehend wanted subjects

LAUREL – Town of Laurel police arrested two Laurel residents Tuesday for outstanding warrants.

Laurel police with assistance from Delaware State Police and the Department of Correction Probation and Parole executed a search warrant in the Little Creek Apartment Complex and arrested Devontay D. Jones, 32, and 20-year-old Taylor C. German.

Jones had active warrants for his arrest issued out of the Laurel Police Department for a previous incident where he fled from the police after being in possession of crack cocaine and marijuana.  Jones also had an active warrant for his arrest issued by the Sussex County Superior Court for Violation of his probation as well as a warrant for failing to pay a fine issued by Justice of the Peace Court 4.

While taking Jones into custody, police located a white powdery substance which tested positive for cocaine. A further search of the apartment revealed a small unknown caliber handgun, several rounds of ammunition and drug paraphernalia, according to Laurel Police Department spokesman Christopher Story.

Jones was arraigned and committed to the Sussex Correctional Institution in default of a $26,200 cash bond.

German had active warrants for her arrest issued out of the Laurel Police Department for hindering prosecution and providing a false statement to police officers.  German also had an active warrant issued for her arrest for failing to pay a fine issued by the Laurel Alderman’s Court.

German was arraigned and released on a $1,464 unsecured bond, pending a future court date.
