Investigation leads to drug arrests

GEORGETOWN – Delaware State Police arrested two persons on drug charges following a Georgetown area search warrant Thursday.

On Thursday, July 23, a two-month investigation by the Sussex County Drug Unit and the Governor’s Task Force (GTF) concluded in a search warrant producing evidence leading to the drug arrests.

Investigative results verified that drug sales were occurring at this residence, and Brian W. Osborne, 40, of Georgetown, was established as one of the suspects, according to state police spokesman Sgt. Richard Bratz.

Over the course of the last two months, it was learned that illegal drugs were being used and sold at 25500 Hollis Road, Georgetown.

State troopers immediately initiated an investigation and arrested one individual for drug possession immediately after leaving the residence.

Troopers stopped a vehicle immediately after it left the residence on Thursday.  Lester L. Thompson, 65, of Millsboro, the operator of the vehicle was subsequently found to be in possession of approximately 3.4 grams of crack cocaine and drug paraphernalia which were seized, Sgt. Bratz said.

Troopers from the Sussex Drug Unit and the Governor’s Task Force executed the search warrant at the Hollis Road residence, seizing the following items: 3.5 grams of crack cocaine, 9.0 grams of powder cocaine, two digital scales, a magazine loaded with .45 caliber ammunition, a box of .32 caliber ammunition, hidden holster under a recliner and over $2000.00 USC in drug proceeds.

Brian W. Osborne, a convicted felon, was charged with Possession of a Firearm or Ammunition by a Person Prohibited with Prior Violent Crime, Possession with the Intent to Deliver Powder Cocaine, Possession with the Intent to Deliver Crack Cocaine and two counts of Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Osborne was transported to Troop 4 and arraigned at JP2 and committed to Sussex Correctional Institution in default of $25,000 secured bond.

Lester L. Thompson was charged with Possession of Crack Cocaine and two counts of Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

Thompson was transported to Troop 4 and arraigned at JP2 and released on $1,000 unsecured bond.
