Hispanic suspects sought in armed robbery

GEORGETOWN – Delaware State Police report an armed robbery that occurred Wednesday evening in the Sandhill Acres of rural Georgetown.

The incident occurred at approximately 10:58 p.m., Jan. 24 at a residence in the unit block of Merganser Road, according to state police spokeswoman Master Cpl. Melissa Jaffe.

Investigation revealed two persons, a 16-year-old girl and a 22-year-old man, were seated in the teen’s vehicle parked in her driveway when a vehicle pulled in beside them.

A Hispanic man exited the vehicle and approached the victims.  Meanwhile, another Hispanic man armed with a handgun exited the vehicle, ordered the man out of the car and demanded he turn over his wallet and cellphone.

While the 22-year-old was being confronted by the suspect with the handgun, two more Hispanic males exited the vehicle, according to state police investigation.  After the victim turned over his cellphone and wallet all four suspects got back into their vehicle and fled.

The first suspect was described as a Hispanic male wearing a dark colored sweatshirt.

The second suspect was described as a Hispanic male wearing a dark colored sweatshirt, with a light-colored bandana partially covering his face and displaying a handgun.

The other two suspects that exited the vehicle could only be described as Hispanic males.  The suspect vehicle was described as a white, four-door passenger car.

No further suspect or vehicle information could be provided, Cpl. Jaffe said.  The victims were not injured during this incident, Cpl. Jaffe said.
