Georgetown woman dies in crash near Milton

MILTON – A 71-year-old Georgetown woman died Monday afternoon in a two-vehicle crash near Milton.

The fatal crash occurred about 2:50 p.m. at the intersection of Sand Hill Road and Gravel Hill Road, Delaware State Police spokesman Master Cpl. Gary Fournier.

The crash involved a 2004 Oldsmobile Alero operated by Ann M. Enders, and a 1999 Chevrolet Suburban driven by John M. Klauder, 45, of Camden-Wyoming.

Preliminary investigation revealed the Alero was westbound on Sand Hill Road and had stopped a flashing red light. For some reason the Alero proceeded into the intersection the path of the Suburban heading north on Gravel Hill Road which has a flashing yellow intersection light.

The Suburban struck the Alero in the driver’s side.

Ms. Enders was pronounced dead at the scene, Cpl. Fournier said.

Mr. Klauder was taken to Bayhealth Milford Memorial Hospital where he was treated and released with non-life threatening injuries.
