Whaley faces charges of reckless endangering first degree, assault third degree, criminal mischief and possession of a deadly weapon during the commission of a felony, Georgetown Police Department spokesman Det. Joey Melvin said.

Whaley was arraigned at Justice of the Peace Court 3 and committed to Baylor Women’s Correctional Institution in lieu of $8,750 secured bail.

Police around 10 p.m. July 9 responded to an assault complaint at the Dunbarton Apartment complex.

Investigation revealed the victim was in the parking lot when Whaley entered accelerated toward the victim attempting to strike her. The female victim was not struck and ran into a stairwell of the apartment complex. Whaley got out of the car and followed her and began to strike and kick the victim, Det. Melvin said.

The victim managed to free herself and as she was walking away Whaley struck her in the head with a glass bottle, according to police investigation. Whaley got back in the vehicle and again attempted to strike the woman, Det. Melvin said.

The victim avoided being struck and called 911. Officers took custody of the suspect on scene without incident. The victim sustained minor injuries to her head and arm during this incident.
