Georgetown police continuing probe into man struck by train

GEORGETOWN – Town of Georgetown Police are continuing the investigation into the May 1 death of a 37-year-old Georgetown who was struck by a train as he was laying on the tracks.

Leonor Cax-Chavez was pronounced dead at the scene. It occurred in the area of Douglas Street and the railroad crossing, Georgetown Police Department spokesman Det. Joey Melvin said.

Preliminary investigation reveals that the incident occurred at approximately 8:42 p.m. Police say Cax-Chavez was struck as he was laying on the tracks by a Delmarva Central Railroad.

No charges have been filed. More information may be released as it becomes available, Det. Melvin said.
