Georgetown man jailed on 6th DUI offense

BRIDGEVILLE – Delaware State Police Friday night arrested a 51-year-old Georgetown man who police found to be driving under the influence of alcohol for a sixth time.

Salomon V. Morales was arrested, arraigned and committed to Sussex Correctional Institution on $7,101 cash bail, according to state police spokesman Master Cpl. Michael Austin.

A trooper stopped a Volkswagen for a traffic violation at about 10:50 p.m. Aug. 10 in the Mill Park Drive area of Coverdale.

A DUI investigation was initiated when the trooper detected an odor of alcohol in the vehicle in which Morales was the only occupant.

Further investigation revealed Morales had five prior DUI convictions.

Morales was transported to Troop 5. He was charged with 6th Offense DUI, Driving Suspended, No Proof of Insurance and Improper Taillights.
