Georgetown: Assault investigation leads to multiple arrests

GEORGETOWN – Town of Georgetown police made two arrests and are seeking a third suspect in the investigation of an assault that occurred June 5.

On June 7, Georgetown police arrested Andrew Long Sr., 55, of Georgetown for assault second degree, robbery second degree, and conspiracy, Georgetown Police Department spokesman Det. Joey Melvin said.

Long was arraigned and committed to Sussex Correctional Institution.

Also on June 7, Georgetown police arrested 29-year-old Lorichia Camper of Rehoboth Beach for providing a false statement, hindering prosecution and conspiracy. Camper was arraigned and released on $6,000 unsecured bond, Det. Melvin said.

Georgetown police have active warrants for Andrew Long III for assault second degree, robbery second degree and conspiracy.

On the evening of June 5, Georgetown police responded to the 300 block of North Race Street to check the welfare of a male lying near the roadway. Officers determined that he had been assaulted.

Further investigation revealed that the victim had been in the area of Douglas Street when he was assaulted by two male subjects.

Detectives identified the suspects as Andrew Long Sr. of Georgetown and Andrew Long Jr. of Rehoboth. Additionally, a female suspect was also identified as being present during the assault.
