Fire heavily damages home; two neighboring homes damaged

SELBYVILLE – Delaware State Fire Marshal’s investigators are probing a fire Monday that heavily damaged one home and caused damage to two neighboring homes.

The blaze occurred at a two-story dwelling in the38000 block of Bayberry Lane.

Roxana Volunteer Fire Company, assisted by Bethany Beach, Ocean City, Millville, and Selbyville volunteer fire companies extinguished the blaze, Chief Deputy State Fire Marshal Harry Miller said.

Upon arrival, firefighters found heavy fire showing from the two-story dwelling.  One occupant was home at the time of the incident, and refused treatment for a minor injury.

Fire exposure caused damaged to two neighboring homes, Mr. Miller said.

Total damages were estimated at $1,100,000.

Investigators are working to determine the fire origin and cause.

All structures were equipped with smoke detectors.
