Fire damages attached garage, residence

GEORGETOWN – The Delaware State Fire Marshal’s office investigated a fire on Fleetwood Pond Road in Georgetown Wednesday afternoon that severely damaged an attached garage and residence.

Firefighters from Georgetown, Blades, Seaford, Laurel, Ellendale, Bridgeville, and Millsboro fire companies responded to the blaze, which was reported at 12:50 p.m., Chief Deputy State Fire Marshal Harry Miller said.

The fire caused damage to the structure, and several vehicles, including recreation vehicles, and automobiles. Damages have been estimated at $150,000.

Investigation revealed that the fire is accidental in nature and originated on the interior of the attached garage in the area of the riding lawn mower.  The owner was home at the time of the fire and no injuries were reported.
