Fatal crash near Millsboro

MILLSBORO – A Millsboro woman died from injuries sustained in a two-vehicle crash Tuesday morning near Millsboro, Delaware State Police report.

 

The crash occurred at about 8:50 a.m. on Mt. Joy Road involving a Chevrolet Silverado driven by Robert M. Weaver, 48, of Millsboro, and a Buick Century operated by 31-year-old Shena L. Coverdale, state police spokesman Master Cpl. Gary Fournier said.

Investigation revealed the Silverado was westbound on Mt. Joy Road near Cordrey Road when it went off the road and rotated sideways. After re-entering the roadway the truck struck the left side of the Buick, and then overturned several times.

Ms. Coverdale was taken to Beebe Healthcare where she was pronounced dead, Cpl. Fournier said. She was wearing proper seat-belt restraints.

Mr. Weaver, who was properly restrained, was treated for non-life-threatening injuries at Beebe and released.

Investigation is ongoing.

State police ask anyone who may have witnessed this collision to contact Corporal N. DeMalto at 302-703-3267.
