Seaford man dies in single-vehicle crash near Georgetown

GEORGETOWN – Delaware State Police on Sunday identified the 42-year-old Seaford man who died in a single-vehicle crash Saturday afternoon crash on County Seat Highway (SR 9) just east of Old Furnace Road.

Michael J. McIntire, the driver of the 2001 Dodge Dakota involved in the crash, was pronounced dead at the scene,  state police spokesman Sgt. Richard Bratz said.

Investigation revealed the crash occurred about 1:10 p.m. when Dakota went off the road, struck several privately owned signs, a driveway culvert and ultimately came to rest in a deep tax ditch.

Mr. McIntire was unrestrained, Sgt. Bratz said.

The State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit is  investigating the crash.
