Ellendale-area burglary suspect arrested

ELLENDALE – An anonymous tip led Delaware State Police to a 48-year-old Ellendale man suspected in connection with two recent burglaries in the Ellendale area.

Carl Schuyler

Carl Schuyler was taken into custody Wednesday, Jan. 17 at a residence in the 18000 block of Schuyler Drive, state police spokesman Master Cpl. Melissa Jaffe said.

Schuyler was charged with two counts of burglary third degree, two counts of criminal mischief, two counts of theft, and resisting arrest.  He was arraigned and committed to the Sussex Correctional Institution on $9,200 cash-only bond.

The arrest stemmed from state police investigation of the Jan. 11 force-entry break-in at Delaware State Waste Authority facility on South Old State Road, and a forced-entry burglary Jan. 13 at the Exxon gas station on Beach Highway.

No property was taken during the break-in at the DSWA.

At the Exxon break-in, the suspect removed eight packs of cigarettes and a lighter before fleeing, Cpl. Jaffe said.

State police investigation was enhanced by an anonymous tip through Delaware Crimestoppers.
