Driver injured slightly as propane truck overturns

FRANKFORD – A propane truck overturned Wednesday morning, resulting in minor injuries to the driver, Delaware State Police report.

Firefighters work at the scene of an overturned propane tanker near Frankford Wednesday morning.

The crash occurred around 11:09 a.m. involving a Pep Up Inc. propane truck.

Investigation revealed the truck driven by a 37-year-old Georgetown man was southbound on Pepper Road just south of Lazy Lagoon Road when it drifted off the west side of the road and overturned, state police spokesman Master Cpl. Gary Fournier said.

The truck came to rest in a private residence.

A small amount of propane leaked before another employee close by sealed the leak.

The operator freed himself from the wreckage. He refused medical treatment, Cpl. Fournier said.

The Delaware Department of Natural Resources (DNREC) responded to the scene to assist with cleanup of the spill.

State police are continuing the investigation. No charges have been filed.

Pepper Road south of Lazy Lagoon Road was closed for approximately three hours while the crash was investigated and cleared.
