Driver dies in fiery crash near Blades

BLADES – Delaware State Police are investigating a fiery crash early Saturday morning that claimed the life of the 53-year-old driver.

The crash occurred at about 4:31 a.m. on Seaford Road (U.S. 13A) south of 10th Street involving a 2007 Ford F150 pickup truck.

Investigation revealed the pickup was southbound on U.S. 13A when it left the roadway and struck a tree. The vehicle caught fire and the driver,  Timothy M. Crockett, 53, became fully entrapped and died as a result of the injuries, said state police spokesman Sgt. Richard Bratz.

It is unknown if Mr. Crockett, the sole occupant of the vehicle, was restrained, Sgt. Bratz said.

Delaware State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit is continuing the investigate and anyone who may have witnessed this crash is asked to contact Corporal N. DeMalto at the Delaware State Police Troop 7 at (302) 703-3267.
