Bridgeville man sought in fatal shooting in Coverdale

BRIDGEVILLE – Delaware State Police are seeking 28-year-old Mcarthur Risper Jr. of Bridgeville who police identified as the suspect in the shooting death of a 41-year-old man Friday night in the Coverdale area.

On Friday, May 11 at approximately 8:20 p.m., state troopers were dispatched to the 21000 block of Mill Park Drive for a reported shooting.

Upon arrival, troopers found a man, subsequently identified as Corey Bailey, 41, of Bridgeville, on the side of the road with apparent gunshot wounds.

The shooting victim was transported by Emergency Medical Services personnel to a local hospital where he was pronounced deceased, state police spokeswoman Master Cpl. Melissa Jaffe said.

Through investigation, detectives identified Mcarthur M. Risper Jr. as the suspect, Cpl. Jaffe said. Ripser has active warrants for murder first degree, conspiracy first degree and two counts of possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony.

This incident remains under investigation by the state police homicide unit. Additional information will be released as it becomes available, Cpl. Jaffe said.
