Bicyclist from Ukraine struck while crossing Del. 1 dies from injuries

REHOBOTH BEACH – A 19-year-old Ukrainian woman struck by a vehicle Friday night while attempting to cross Coastal Highway on a bicycle died from her injuries Saturday morning, Delaware State Police report.

Nadia Misa was pronounced dead at Beebe Medical Center at about 7:45 a.m. Saturday, state police spokesman Cpl. Jeffrey Hale said.

Investigation revealed the crash occurred about 8:50 p.m. June 5 as Ms. Misa was on a bicycle attempting to cross Del. 1 (Coastal Highway). As Ms. Misa began to cross the southbound lanes, she was struck by a 2005 Chrysler Crossfire operated by Daniel L. Furr, Jr., 30, of Dover, Cpl. Hale said.

State police said Mr. Furr was traveling in the center lane of Del. 1 with a green traffic signal. The force of the impact threw the bicyclist into the left hand lane of the road.

The Delaware State Police Crash Reconstruction Unit is continuing its investigation of this fatal crash.
