Attempted robbery suspect sought

MILLSBORO – Delaware State Police are investigating an attempted robbery of an Oak Orchard area convenience store Wednesday morning.

According to state police Lt. Gary Fournier, at about 7:50 a.m. May 20 a male suspect entered the Shore Stop at 31507 Oak Orchard Road, confronted a 75-year-old female employee with a handgun and demanded money from the cash register.

When the clerk told the suspect there was no money in the register, he pushed the clerk aside and attempted to open the till, Cpl. Fournier said.

The clerk ran to a back door and yelled into the kitchen for help as the suspect fled the store without any money in a southerly direction on Oak Orchard Road.

The female clerk was uninjured in this incident.

Police description of the male suspect is 5-10 to 6-0 in height, weighing 160 to 180 pounds. He was wearing a brown hooded sweatshirt, blue jeans, black glasses, with a grey shirt covering his face.

There was no further physical or clothing description available. No video surveillance footage is available at this time.
