Arrest made in sexual assault investigation

GEORGETOWN – Delaware State Police report the arrest of a 22-year-old Georgetown man on sexual assault charges following investigation of an incident that occurred June 20.

Clay Conaway on Aug. 22 was taken into custody by troopers and charged with rape in the first degree. He was arraigned before the Justice of the Peace Court 3 and committed to the Sussex Correctional Institution on $70,000 secured bond, state police spokeswoman Master Cpl. Melissa Jaffe said.

The arrest stemmed from state police investigation of an incident that occurred on June 20 at a residence in Georgetown, Cpl. Jaffe said.

State police ask anyone who has information about this incident or any other possible criminal incidents involving this defendant to contact Troop 4, Major Crimes Unit, Detective D. Kristunas at 752-3856.
