Arrest made in fatal shooting in Coverdale

BRIDGEVILLE – The murder suspect wanted in the fatal shooting in Coverdale May 11 is behind bars in lieu of more than $1 million bond.

Mcarthur Risper Jr., 28, of Bridgeville turned himself in at Delaware State Police Troop 5 Monday. He was charged with murder first degree, conspiracy first degree and two counts of possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, according to state police spokeswoman Master Cpl. Melissa Jaffe.

Risper was arraigned before the Justice of the Peace Court 2 and committed to the Sussex Correctional Institution on $1,045,000 secured bond.

State police subsequently identified Risper as the suspect in the May 11 shooting death of 41-year-old Corey Bailey of Bridgeville.

Troopers were dispatched to the 21000 block of Mill Park Drive and found Mr. Bailey on the side of the road with apparent gunshot wounds.

The victim was transported by Emergency Medical Services personnel to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead, Cpl. Jaffe said.
