‘Ales for Tails’ fundraiser benefits Delaware police canines

GEORGETOWN – The Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 16 will hold a fundraising event Saturday, Aug. 11 at 16 Mile Brewery benefiting Delaware police canines.

The purpose of the “Ales for Tails” fundraiser is to raise funds for a K9 medical course training and medical supplies benefiting Delaware police canines, said Ocean View Police Cpl. Justin B. Hopkins.

The course is designed to teach basic life-saving skills if or when a canine partner is injured in the line of duty, Cpl. Hopkins said.

The event will run from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. featuring food and activities for the family. Beer will be available to those of legal age.

Tickets are $15 for adults; $6 for children.

16 Mile Brewery is located at 413 South Bedford Street, Georgetown.

A total of 50 K9 teams will benefit from the proposed training that will incorporate agencies from across the state. Agencies to benefit from this training include, but may not be limited to:

  • Milford PD
  • New Castle County PD
  • Wilmington PD
  • Dover PD

  • University of Delaware PD
  • Middletown PD
